The emphasis of this program is on providing Territorians the opportunity to gain a qualification through structured employment and training in the NT Public Sector.
The length of the program will depend on the discipline that the apprentice will undertake and can range from 12 months to 3 years. Employment is offered as a temporary contract, which includes both "on" and "off" the job training. "On" the job training is provided by the host agency that you will be placed with and "off" the job Training is delivered by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), where in most cases you will attend one week per month.
There are many different apprenticeships with over 200 disciplines to choose from, some for example include Business, Finance, Horticulture, Laboratory Skills, Conservation and Land Management, and even Food Services from the Health training package.
There is no guarantee of ongoing employment upon successful completion.

Applications for the midyear 2008 NTPS Apprenticeship Program have now closed.
Applications for the 2009 February intake will open in approximately mid-October 2008.
